Cycle Sport Magazine North America App Reviews

Mag is great; app needs work.

I have subscribed to Cycle Sport for 5+ years in print and digital formats, so the excellent content is not a concern. Highly recommended for the photos, well-written articles, and pleasing layout. My concerns are the low-resolution images and the sluggish loading of pages in the app. I have read the same mag via Zinio and find it to be the superior app in comparison, as it loads and moves pages/images quickly and the images do not get pixelated. Unfortunately, price matching is not an option with Zinio, so the CS app got my cash instead.

YAHOOO!!!!

Finally you guys came to the iPad! I have been a long time print subscriber. Great stuff , now I can carry several issues at once..works great, just like my New Yorker mag app

Too restrictive

Great images, and good copy. Mag looks great...to a point. 1-- I would like to chose horizontal or vertical format so I could see the 2 page spreads as the photographer had intended. 2-- I would like a variable size expansion ("pinch open" gesture, for lack of a better word) rather than the tap-tap get what you get. In other words, if I want to see just how much sweat Cav is dripping as he crosses the line (and, for Cav, its usually not much!) Id like it to be my choice as to how far in to pan. 3-- Finally, there are pages where panning in is just not an option. The editors decided for me that the image presented is just fine in its presented format. No need for closer inspection, thank you very much. I am using for comparison other IPad magazines on my bookshelf: VELO PELETON PRO CYCLING PAVED ROULEUR THE COLLARBONE LAVA TRI Although all is not perfect with these mags, they are not as restrictive as CYCLE SPORT.

Great app!

As a frequent flyer, its great to be able to read Cycle Sport on many otherwise boring flights!! Keep up the good work!

Costs too much

$9.99 is way too much for an iPad based magazine. None of the other bike magazines charge nearly as for a digital version as their print version.

Cycling addiction

The magazine is definitely expensive but you get it immediately and any where, which is great

Much Improved

I was slow to transition from print to digital, but now its the most enjoyable medium to me. The photographs are excellent this way and allow for zooming in for a closer look. The ap closed itself multiple times when I downloaded the last issue, so they still have a bug or two to work out. Love the mag.

Great writing, great photography, slow download

The quality of Cycle Sport is great -- rider insights, great race reporting, fantastic photos. Like many e-magazines the download speed is poor.

App needs improvement

Even with the recent upgrade the app is still very slow in refreshing. Many times it takes seconds to load. Unacceptable.

A store, not a magazine

An app that only tries to sell you stuff rather then delivering anything of any value should not even qualify as an app.
